We are pleased to announce that HSP, Inc., The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) and the co-authors of Comprehensive Dental Assisting: A Clinical Approach, Betty Ladley Finkbeiner and Claudia Sullens Johnson, have agreed to develop a series of 30 educational videotapes for the dentist and auxiliaries. These tapes are being produced by Dental Visions of St. Louis, MO. The excellent training videos you have been looking for have now arrived. The authors, with 50 years combined experience, are committed to providing the most up-to-date concepts in a learner friendly mode. The first tapes are available now and can be ordered immediately. Here are the details:

  • Clinical Dynamics of Four-Handed Dentistry. This is a long awaited tape that thoroughly describes the principles of motion economy, ergonomic positioning of the patient and dental team, equipment selection, and the basic techniques of oral evacuation and instrument transfer. This tape is an excellent illustration of modern clinical dentistry. For those who grew up with four-handed dentistry, this videotape will be a breath of fresh air; for those who never learned these concepts it is a MUST HAVE! Approx. 45 min.
  • Infection Control in the Dental Office. This videotape is filled with current techniques. It includes clips from John Molinari, Ph.D., noted microbiologist and author of a variety of infection control texts and articles. The video is presented in attractive clinical colors, descriptive terminology, and demonstrates the basic concepts of disaffection and sterilization. Approx. 25 min.
  • Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office. The role of the dental health team, with emphasis on the dental assistant, is illustrated in this video. Common situations include management of hyperventilation, hypoglycemia, heart attack, and epileptic seizure. Approx. 25 min.
