Dentassist Liberty III Dental Unit
Specifications for Dentassist Liberty III Dental Unit: 1. Four-Handed Dentistry Design. The Dentassist is the only dental unit that was designed from university research for the concept of four-handed dentistry. True four-handed dentistry cannot be practiced without a Dentassist unit because it is the only dental unit that permits the transfer of instruments by the assistant without the doctor/operator breaking his/her field of vision. This system maximizes productivity and efficiency with less stress and fatigue to the doctor/operator and assistant. 2. Efficiency and Comfort for the Solo Dentist. The transthorax positioning provides a direct reach for all instrumentation for the doctor that works without a dental assistant. This design eliminates the turning and twisting by the doctor to pickup and replace handpieces and other instrumentation, thereby, providing better efficiency and comfort for the dentist/operator. 3. Universal Left & Right Design. The Dentassist unit is a mirror image left and right handed system. When incorporated with the HSP Integra patient dental chair, the unit will rotate to either side of the patient. The unit also offers a mirror image left and right instrumentation, i.e. HVE, SYG, HS, HS, SS, HVE (6 Track Unit). 4. Unit Models and Custom Unit Instrumentation. The Dentassist Liberty III unit is offered in three different custom built models and offers several built-in options. The units are available in 6 Track, 7 Track and 8 Track one-piece molded units. A. The Dentassist Liberty III A unit is a two handpiece automatic selection unit. Instrumentation: 6 Track unit, HVE, SE, SYG, HS, SS, HVE. Each option added requires an additional Track. B. The Dentassist Liberty III B unit (the most popular) is a three handpiece automatic selection unit. Instrumentation: 6 Track unit, HVE, SYG, HS, HS, SS, HVE. D. The Dentassist Liberty III C unit is a four handpiece automatic selection unit. Instrumentation: 7 Track unit, HVE, SYG, HS, HS, HS, SS, HVE. Each option added requires an additional Track. Instrumentation Listing: HVE: Hi-volume evacuator (suction). SE: Salvia ejector. SYG: Air/water/spray 3-way syringe. HS: Hi-speed air handpiece, 4 hole tubing. SS: Low speed air handpiece, 4 hole tubing. Options Built-in Unit: S: Piezo Scaler. ES: Electro-Surg. CW: Curing Wand. F/O: Handpiece Fiberoptic Unit, for 2 or 3 handpieces specified. All optional accessories instrumentation built-in units operate on one unit foot control. 5. Proper Unit Positioning. The Dentassist unit is positioned in a transthroax position to allow for the dental assistant to have access of reach to all unit instrumentation to be able to transfer handpieces and other power instrumentation to the doctor/operator's hands at the patient's oral cavity. The units location in the operatory shall permit freedom of movement in the instrument transfer zone and provides freedom of movement for the doctor/operator to move from the 12 o'clock to the 7 o'clock positions. The units location shall not restrict free access of the doctor/operator or assistant to their work areas or the patient from entering or leaving the dental chair. If the doctor works alone without a dental assistant, the unit is positioned directly toward the doctor for direct reach of instrumentation, thereby, eliminating the turning and twisting required to pickup and replace the handpieces as is required by traditionally designed dental units. The position of the instruments allows the doctor to maximize efficiency and comfort with less stress and fatigue. 6. Unit Location For Instrument Transfer. The Dentassist unit is designed as a one piece ABS plastic molded unit incorporating all doctor's handpiece and other power instrumentation, i.e. piezo scalers and electro-surg units, and the dental assistant's instrumentation, i.e. high volume evacuation, air water three way syringe and optional curing wand. The one piece molded unit allows for proper unit placement for four-handed dentistry, without interfering with the doctor's or assistant's proper seating positions. 7. One Piece Molded Unit. The one piece ABS plastic molded Dentassist unit provides for ideal aseptics and is easy to clean and disinfect. The unit has a hi-tech appearance, a design that impresses and reassures the patients. 8. Tubing-Tangle Free Operation. The one piece ABS molded unit top cover has a molded track for each instrument that allows the tubing to slide in the track, thereby eliminating the cross-over of tubings and preventing entanglement of tubings. 9. Tension Free Tubing. Each tubing on the Dentassist unit has a patented stop button on the tubing that locks into a handpiece holder when the instrument is pulled out into a working position, thereby, eliminating tubing tension pull back to the doctor's wrist. This design eliminates wrist and arm strain, which can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. 10. Tubing Stop Button. The Dentassist unit utilizes an adjustable tubing stop button on each tubing that locks into the handpiece holder when the instrument is in a working position that allows the adjustment for the correct tubing length for proper handpiece or other instrument utilization, without the tubing touching the patient. 11. Gravity Retraction System. The Dentassist unit has a patented, maintenance-free retraction system on all unit tubings, is designed to be fail proof, as there are no mechanical locks, springs, or pulleys utilized. This retraction system provides maximum efficiency in handpiece delivery and retrieval. The retraction system eliminates hanging cords and tubings. 12. Automatic Handpiece Selection. The Dentassist unit incorporates a specifically designed automatic handpiece control valve system that utilizes a unique and exclusive feature. The valving system allows for a first out-first on function that provides for safety and allows for efficient handpiece transfer and burr change. The handpiece control circuit is designed to allow only one handpiece to run at one time. The second handpiece may be removed from the handpiece holder by the dental assistant and readied for transfer to the doctor's fingers at the patient's oral cavity, without the second handpiece running, thereby, providing safety to the dental assistant, the patient and the doctor. Each handpiece has its own individual valve control that allows presetting of the drive air pressure to each handpiece. 13. Coolant Air and Coolant Water. The unit is equipped with individual controls to adjust the amount of the coolant air and coolant water to each handpiece. 14. No Handpiece Vacuum Retraction. The Dentassist unit incorporates a unique automatic handpiece selection control valve system that prevents vacuum retraction or "suck-back" of blood or other contaminates from the patient mouth back into the handpiece and handpiece tubing. The HSP control valve system uses no diaphragm. Each handpiece has its own individual control valve. 15. Chair Mounted Unit. The Dentassist unit is mounted to a uniquely designed left and right handed chair mount swing arm that allows ideal reverse positioning for either a left or right handed dentist and the unit moves up and down with the dental chair. 16. Unit Position Adjustability. The Dentassist unit incorporates a unique pivoting system that allows the dental unit to be ideally positioned incorporating the following movements/adjustments: A. Unit up and down tilting/movement. B. Forward and backward movement. C. Horizontal rotation. D. Left and right handed/slanting movement. 17. Variable Speed Wet and Dry Foot Control. A disc type foot controller is incorporated to allow a full range of variable handpiece speed from low to maximum. The more the disc is depressed the greater the handpiece speed. The foot control is equipped with an on/off water switch for wet and dry operations and also incorporates a chip-air push button to provide air when the handpiece is not running. 18. Pressure Gauges. The handpiece air pressure gauge is located in the underside of the dental unit and is visible to the operator. The dental unit also incorporates an air and water pressure regulator located in the junction box to provide the correct amount of air and water pressure for the operating system. 19.
